Intrauterine insemination is a fertility treatment used in unexplained infertility and in situations in which a specific problem needs to be bypassed.
The first part of the treatment is very similar to follicular tracking. We perform serial scans to identify when ovulation is most likely to occur.
On the day of the treatment your partner’s sperm is prepared to eliminate poor quality sperm and leave a concentrated sample of purified sperm.
The sample is then inserted directly into the uterus with a small tube which is passed through the cervix. This procedure is very well tolerated by the vast majority of patients and it s not much more uncomfortable then a having a cervical smear.
includes all the treatment* except preliminary investigations.
*Specific blood investigations need to be carried out on the male partner before a sample can be processed in the laboratory.
