What is HyCoSy?
HyCoSy is a special ultrasound scan (known as hysterosalpingo-contrast-sonography) during which a contrast medium is inserted in the uterus through the cervix and we can then see if the contrast medium fills the tubes and comes out at the other end.

What are the benefits of HyCoSy?
This examination of the fallopian tubes allows us to see if there is a blockage or any problems that may be affecting your fertility.
HyCoSy is a very well tolerated procedure and we will be able to tell you straight away if everything is in order. It is very important to perform it during the first part of your cycle (before ovulation) to avoid displacing a potential pregnancy.

Are there any risks?
There is a small chance of a pelvic infection following the test. This risk is mainly related to the presence of sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia. For this reason all our patients are screened for infections at they first consultation.
Occasionally the test may cause some light bleeding but this should settle after a day or two.
